Thrush Hermit Picks...Thrush Hermit? (Part 1)

2024 marks the 20th and 30th anniversary of many iconic Canadian records. Today we are going to look back at one such record: Thrush Hermit’s debut EP Smart Bomb. Thrush Hermit was a Canadian alternative rock band that emerged in the Halifax music scene in 1990 and signed with Murderrecords. 30 years ago this year, Thrush Hermit Joel Plaskett (vocals, guitar), Rob Benvie (guitar, vocals), Ian McGettigan (bass, vocals), and Cliff Gibb (drums)....released their debut EP Smart Bomb and overnight became the indie rock toast of the town. They would go on to release their debut album, "Sweet Homewrecker," in 1997, and “Clayton PArk” before disbanding in 1999. THrush Hermit left a lasting impact on the Canadian alternative rock scene, and this week we are going back into the SA time machine to 1994 with Joel and Ian from the band.
