The Pearl Harbour album that is.

The band on this album comprised members of the Blockheads, The Rumour (Graham Parker's band), Dr. Feelgood & the Clash.

Haven't listened to this Pearl Harbour LP in years, thanx for jogging my memory about how great it is. And thanx for spinning some Running From Daylight.

Neil and the Dancing LABRADOR
Bam!! Drake the Dancing Labrador right out of his nap and cut a couple of moves in the kitchen immediately. Pearl Harbour is freaking awesome, Renny. I used to love bin diving and still do on occasion. No feeling like striking gold baby!!

Great opening set. Among my favs, the bands you mentioned above. I concur with their feelings about the dentist. Any idea who the vocalist is Renny?

Renny G (host)
Too true. My first taste of Dr. Feelgood was from a delete bin, it's my favourite Dr. Feelgood album to this day. "Case of the Shakes".

Pearl Harbour. I don't know what her real name was, I forgot. I can look it up for you. She was half German, half Filipino . She also went by another pseudonym, Pearl. E. Gates or something like that.

Renny G (host)
She and Paul Simeon of the Clash were an item.

I remember finding the Stooges' Raw Power album in a delete bin at Treble Clef, only about a year after it first came out. Does anyone remember Treble Clef?

1:54 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
I do. Then it became Super Clef, at Merivale Road near Baseline.

1:56 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
The delete bins often had much better albums than what was at the top of the charts at the time.

1:56 PM, January 17th, 2024
Frankie
Yes quite true. I also found Link Wray's "Bullshot" album in those delete bins. The only drawback was the punched hole thru the album covers.

2:02 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Ditto. with the "Bullshot" album. Christ, I'd pay $1.99 just to hear "Switchblade".

2:04 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
And the Woolco stores all had the cheap Italian rock and jazz compilations,

2:06 PM, January 17th, 2024
Frankie
I missed the Woolco stuff Renny, darn. Yes that Bullshot album was like finding the mother lode.

2:12 PM, January 17th, 2024
Steve Kirkland
Just tuning in now... Woolco? What did I miss? I used to buy 7-inch singles at Woolco in Toronto (Weston) as a kid! Never got any picture sleeves when you bought 'em in Department Stores... and I never had enough money to buy albums, so wouldn't have bothered even looking at them.

Thanx for playing that Corb Lund track.....I had no idea he did anything like that!!

2:30 PM, January 17th, 2024
Frankie
I wonder now, were there any "Goblin" tracks on those Italian comp. abums?

2:35 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
He's got a great motorcycle song on that album as well.

2:36 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Oddly enough Frankie, it wasn't Italian bands on the collections.

Yes, Sam's was the holy grail

2:54 PM, January 17th, 2024

Hey, Rotten Renny! It's written as "Pear Harbor" in every song credit! Late to the show! Will demand it!

2:56 PM, January 17th, 2024
Benoît
Sorry, as "Pear Herbour" with a u. Still needs an el...

2:57 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Where is Johnny Loan? He would have dug today's show.

2:57 PM, January 17th, 2024

Okay, no more typos! IT's written as "Pear Harbour", without that el. sheesh

2:58 PM, January 17th, 2024
Frankie
No need for lyrics here, Walter's harp will say it all.

2:59 PM, January 17th, 2024
Frankie
Ha ha , I saw that Benoit.

3:00 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Thanks Benoît. I put the "L" on her name.

This is for hillbilly of course.

3:01 PM, January 17th, 2024

Pearl had to add the "u' in Harbour when she got signed to a UK label.

3:07 PM, January 17th, 2024
Renny
I refuse to drop the "u" from harbour, neighbour nor favourite. It's an American ploy. Before you know it we'll be calling the last letter "zee" instead of "zed".

3:16 PM, January 17th, 2024
Johnny Loan
Another great show

3:21 PM, January 17th, 2024
