James Brown was autocratic, but he was the star, the draw, along with his band. People loved the performer. Hardest working man in showbiz... poor businessman...

James Brown certainly was the star, and worked non-stop. When he died Wax Poetics dedicated an issue to him and I remember reading in a span of 11 days they played something like 26 shows and did 3 recording sessions. That was the pace. Endless credit to the J.B.s. Would have been a different story if not for the band!
