Sunday March 17th, 2024 with David Dalle
Guest hosting this week: we will climb a step pyramid of musical emotion and spirituality.

I hope you enjoy my guest spot this week on TIE. I envision the first, large set of music as a step pyramid, where each step brings us closer to musical and spiritual ecstasy! I know, ambitious, but this is how my mind works! We will take the first step with Sarathy Korwar's brand new EP, recorded live in Mumbai with his trio with himself on drums and voice, Tamar Osborn on sax, flute and voice, and Alistair MacSween on synthesizers, drums. Available as a pay what you can download on Bandcamp: https://sarathykorwar.bandcamp.com/album/kalak-live-in-mumbai Where we end up on the summit will surprise you!

I picked up the following magnificent album in Leipzig last year. Michael Schönheit is the organist for the Gewendhaus and this recording was made on that gigantic organ, with electronics played live by Philipp Hülsenbeck. I saw the same duo perform an hour long improvisation on themes by Mahler at midnight in the St. Nicholas church (one of the two main churches Bach worked and performed in during his long tenure in Leipzig), I think it was recorded and really hope it is released someday. This album is available on Bandcamp:
