Mostly new, very very groovy, with a spotlight on the brand new African Head Charge album. Also, a trip to the Village of the Pharoahs, with all three parts of the suite of the same name from Pharoah Sanders 1973 album.

Yeah, yeah, I had forgotten too. I've only recently dug it up again and man, it's got the goods for sure. Really sounds like a companion piece to My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. Perhaps more so even than the extra tracks they released on that anniversary edition of Bush of Ghosts.

And, yeah, you don't wanna miss this show, PB. Especially the new African Head Charge stuff. It's on a whole other level.

Also, according to the Wikipedia, Adrian Sherwood hatched the notion of African Head Charge when he read Brian Eno's comment about his vision for a psychedelic Africa.

LIttle Eno lore for you there, PB!

Wow, I didn't know African Head Charge was still going! U-Sound is such a cool label.

RobB you have been negligent in listening to your fellow comrades' shows! African Head Charge man!

What’s this playing at 2:16

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
African Head Charge! Probably "One Love, One Heart (Version), from their brand new album, Churchical Chant of the Iyabinghi. It's amazing.

Manmohan, I know; you guys are ages ahead of me in your appreciation of (and playing) AHC. I honestly have no idea how I managed to get through so many years without encountering them before.

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
As to whether they're still going; I'm not too sure, in that the last two records have been dredged up from the vaults of previous recordings. No knock on the albums, though. The sound terrific. As you can hear right now!

What is your favourite ice cream

2:29 PM, March 8th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Oh, man; they're still going for sure; their website shows them doing some upcoming shows in the UK, including one in April with Gaudi in London for On-U's 40th anniversary. And dammit, I'm gonna be in London right before that, leaving the day before for Paris. Grrrrr.

I mean, assuming France and the UK aren't locked down with Covid-19 by then!

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
I'm pretty agnostic on the ice cream issue, Shubham. It's all good. Maybe pistachio gelato, if I really had to pick only one.

What’s playing now Rob

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
That one would have been AHC again, "Pursuit" from the "In Pursuit of Shashamane Land" album. Very good.

2:52 PM, March 8th, 2020
peebee, a convert
Just wish you would play something beatsy and full of new sounds Rob! None of this droll stuff that doesn't go good loud and with ample toe-tappin'. Will there be beatsy?! q;^) Oh, and, African Head Charge..... Heard them lots before, mostly on CKCU, but don't have. .... yet more happy homework on me. TIE can be an expensive shoooow to listen to.

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
I'm all about the beatsy, PB. And AHC has like 21 albums under their belt, so yeah; it's gonna cost you!

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Hey there Dumpty! Yes yes yes! The whole album is very much in that style. Quite the thing.
