The Wavelength
Monday October 18th, 2021 with Joe Reilly
Tonight's show is dedicated to Ernie Neuheimer who died this week at the age of 81. Songs about fatherhood, people passing on and the strength of our human spirit.

Ernie Neuheimer passed away this week at the age of 81 and his death moved me to put together a show that is mostly full of music about fatherhood, the human spirit, the beauty of life and the passage of loved ones from life into death. Ernie was part of Carleton University for 25 years working in the Centre For Small Particle Physics. I came to know Ernie through his generous spirit and his connection to my sister-in-law Kim O'Leary. When Kim's parents died, Ernie and his wife Judy (Kim's older sister) took Kim into their household and raised her. The times I spent with Ernie were always engaging and thought-provoking and I know that his big spirit and thoughtful manner and his loving presence is missed by his family. This show is dedicated to Ernie's spirit and to Judy, Anna and Mathew (Ernie and Judy's children) and to Kim. Hopefully anyone who has lost a loved one recently may find some solace in these songs and musical pieces tonight. Music can help us feel connected to others and may raise our spirits during troubled times. I hope that is the case with this set of music tonight. Take care. By the way, if you are interested in The Caretaker's project Everywhere At The End of Time here is a link to the Bandcamp page. It provides more insights than I could in a brief description of the project on the show tonight. https://thecaretaker.bandcamp.com/album/everywhere-at-the-end-of-time https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/22470-everywhere-at-the-end-of-time/

How am I going to get into my house? I'm in the car in the driveway and the songs just keep coming. Quite loved the transition between Craig Cardiff and Jane Siberry.

Haha - this one goes for awhile. When the music keeps working so well you can’t stop it to blab.

Joe thanks for this awesome show. And for delaying my tab in the Byward Market many decades ago. The New Home Clan.
