In 1965 I was cruising off the coast of Mozambique in HMS Berwick. We were on 'Biera Patrol' preventing oil being tanked to Biera en-route to South Africa. It was the time of Apartheid. As the Weapons and Electrical officer one of my responsibilities was the public address system, which included the basic tools of a broadcasting studio. So I started a regular entertainment program, involving officers and ratings, with spoken words and music. This was to alleviate the possible boredom of many weeks at sea. The next track is a segment from one of the programs, preserved in my tape collection these 51 years, Biera is mentioned by Sub Lieut Mitchell. For June and July 2016, Laurie-Ann and I were in Pemba, Mozambique, north of Biera. We were at the Harvest Mission School of Iris Global. Will talk some more about that on Over my Head this Sunday 8am - 9. The Beatles had released Rubber Soul in 1965 and I played You Won't See Me on at least one edition of Fruit Salad.
