Continuing with a look at the wonderful and original music of John Luther Adams with his piece Inuksuit for 9 to 99 percussionists and intended to be performed outside. It is a very free work since performances are largely influenced by the environment it is peformed in, and the number of musicians and instruments involved. It was premiered in Banff Alberta during his residency there in 2009. He tries to conjure the shapes of the Inuksuit in the layered rythmic patterns. The result is magnificent and haunting.
