Is this a Leonard Cohen cover or did Cohen borrow a traditional klezmer song for his recording? Help me out Mike

Neil, It's a Yiddish translation of a Leonard Cohen song.

Thx. Leonard would have acknowledged it being a traditional Yiddish song during concerts. I should have realized that. One of his best; at least one of my favourites..........which pretty much includes every song he ever wrote and left for us to both enjoy and ponder over as the years go by........and go by faster than we would like.

Neil, there's also a translation of The Future on that album by Daniel Kahn & Jake Shulman-Ment, as well as translations of songs by Tom Waits, Tom Paxton, Woody Guthrie, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen and others. A great album.

Terrific selection of music, a groysn dank! Maybe I misheard, but I think you said it was the Soviets who herded Jews into Karlovke. I'm pretty sure it was the Germans who did that.

G Myerson, yes, I was mistaken about that. Thanks for the correction.
