In her songs, April the 14th (Part 1) and Ruination Day (Part 2), Gillian Welch reminded us that the shooting of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865, the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, and Black Sunday, the biggest dust storm of the Depression-era Dust Bowl in 1935, all occurred on April 14. |
