Good evening everyone Welcome to tonight's edition: remembering Mike Vernon, who produced many albums in the UK from the mid 60s into this century. Tonight's show concentrates mainly on Blues and R+B. It could also have included Level 42, The Proclaimers, Roachford, early Fleetwood Mac and Ten Years After.

Hi Chris, Always interesting to hear about the people behind the songs and the important role that they played. There’s often an interconnected web of people involved both behind a mic and behind the scenes.

Hi Shelley :-)

Angelique Francis is the first of 4 Canadian artists on tonight's show, none of whom have connections to Mike Vernon, but musically fit well alongside the others..

Yes I was wondering if there was a connection with Angelique Francis. She’s awesome! Up until tonight, I never knew how to spell scaramouche. The things you can learn from listening to CKCU.

I had the honour of seeing and then meeting Crystal Shawanda at the Folk Canada conference last year. Really lovely person and a very powerful voice singing meaningful lyrics.

I had a feeling you'd have crossed paths/seen at least someone on tonight's show, Shelley :-)

Small world. The Medicine is also a very very powerful song indeed from Miss Emily.

Wow, a very young David Bowie. Silly Boy Blue sounds like a good name for a paint colour—imagine doing up a room in Silly Boy Blue. What would that look like?

Thanks Steve, that's great to hear. * Note to self: must remember to send a little "thank you" to your mate Frank, too, wouldn't want him to feel unappreciated.

Hi Chris, thanks for delving into the career of Mike Vernon. Very interesting to hear some of his later work. He was certainly a major contributor to the British music scene for some time. Best.

Hi GB, thanks for listening in again, and glad you enjoyed the sets. There were also quite a number of very well-known artists who recorded at Chipping Norton Studios, which he co-owned with is brother Richard from 1971 until shortly before the turn of the century. Didn't quite have time for the likes of Duran Duran, et al :-;
