A morning of exploration within the music of Stan Rogers.
Stan Rogers died alongside 22 other passengers on June 2, 1983, while traveling on Air Canada Flight 797 (a McDonnell Douglas DC-9) following a performance at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Rogers was flying from Dallas, Texas, to Toronto, when a fire of unknown ignition source within the aft washroom forced it to make an emergency landing at the Greater Cincinnati Airport in northern Kentucky.
Upon landing, the plane's doors were opened, allowing the five crew and 18 of the passengers to escape. The oxygen rushing in from outside caused a flash fire. Rogers was one of the passengers still on the plane at the time of the fire.
His ashes were scattered in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Nova Scotia.
