Nothin' To See Hear
Wednesday April 29th, 2026 with Susan Johnston
Jagjeet Sharma discusses Silent Ripples (Broken Keys Publishing & Press, 2025).

Ottawa-based poet Jagjeet Sharma joins Susan for a conversation about her newest collection, Silent Ripples, her third book with Broken Keys Publishing and Press. Known for her distinctive brand of "journalistic poetry," Jagjeet has built a loyal readership by transforming the headlines and heartaches of contemporary life into verse that is, as the North Grenville Times puts it, "simple in language, but extremely profound and relatable." Many listeners will also know Jagjeet as the host of Asian Sounds, her long-running show right here on CKCU, dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse musical traditions of Asia. Her previous collections, Measure of a Wo/Man and Under a Maple Tree, have tackled themes ranging from gender and identity to the social and political upheaval of the pandemic years. Silent Ripples continues that journey, weaving together nature, spirit, and truth in poems that ask us to pause amid the noise of modern life. Jagjeet joins us today to share the story behind this powerful new collection.
