Commemorating Bettina Köster, who passed away March 16, of one of the most influential Berlin band Malaria! in the first hour, please excuse my bad cold and rough voice, so it was minimal talking while recording, but will say a few words here and there on her legacy -- then we move into more post punk, new wave and global grooves as the night unfolds. | Bettina Köster began her career in late-70s Berlin’s experimental scene, co-founding influential projects like Mania D. before forming Malaria! with Gudrun Gut in 1981. Malaria! became a defining force in post-punk and new wave — minimal, dark, and uncompromising — with tracks like ‘Kaltes Klares Wasser’ shaping the sound of the era. Köster continued to create across music and film for decades, leaving a lasting imprint on underground and experimental scenes worldwide. |
