Radio plays! Getting into DJing. Friday folk. Transit woes — the film version

In our first hour, we've got some new music by folks playing in town this weekend, and we'll hear two radio plays created by drama students at Lisgar Collegiate. Can You Let It Go? – Sofia Ackovik, Zacharie Goudreault, Bethanie Tse A Tale at Hogwarts – Theytan Beardy, Chloe Debanne, Sebastian Quiroz, Juan Sanchez-Teran Martinez. Curious about DJing? Gianluca and Ciara spoke about their experiences, and Ciara will make her debut as part of Live from the Booth tomorrow night: A collaboration between the Downtown BIA and the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) is bringing local music to Live from the Booth on Sparks St all summer long! The concert series, featuring electronic artists and DJs, Live from the Booth, will take place every Saturday from 8pm - 10pm. Music lovers from the Ottawa region are invited to come start their Saturday evenings with good tunes on Sparks Street. Venue: The Booth on Sparks Street, Ottawa (between Elgin St & Metcalfe St) Time: 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Price: FREE (no ticket required) In our second hour, Gio Petti and Laura Blanchette join us to talk about The Train to Nowhere and transit-related events happening at the Bytowne tomorrow morning. Event details: Don’t miss the bus on a special event dedicated to bettering transit in Ottawa! Join Good Golly Zines for a zine market, documentary film screening, and community panel on the future of transit in Ottawa. In the featured documentary, The Train to Nowhere, local filmmaker Gio Petti takes an in-depth look at the past, present and future of Ottawa’s Light-Rail Transit and its impact on commuters, asking what it means to wait for progress and what happens when infrastructure meant to move a city forward remains distant. Following the documentary will be a panel discussion with Gio Petti, local community leaders, and transit activists to keep the conversation going. What would it take to fix Ottawa’s public transit problem? What hope do we have for the future of public transit?
