| Metamorphosen Norwegian Chamber Orchestra - |
| Thirteen Strings: Metamorphosis
7:30 PM on Friday Apr. 3rd Carleton-Dominion Chalmers Centre, 290 Lisgar Street Price: Tickets: $10-$50 Join us and experience a concert of rare emotional resonance and spiritual depth. At its heart lies Richard Strauss’s 'Metamorphosen' – a soul-stirring elegy and one of the most profound works in the string orchestra repertoire. Intimate and expressive, it speaks to themes of beauty, humanity and irrevocable loss. In poignant counterpoint, Pergolesi’s radiant 'Stabat Mater' offers a timeless reflection on sorrow and solace, scored for two voices, strings, and continuo. Together, these two masterpieces create an unforgettable arc from devastation to hope, and from grief to grace. Led by Jean-Marie Zeitouni, known for his emotional clarity and stylistic finesse across centuries of repertoire, this program features Thirteen Strings in an expanded ensemble of superb string players and long-time collaborators. Thirteen Strings is a chamber orchestra in Ottawa It was founded in 1976 by Brian Law, then conductor of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, who led the ensemble until 1991. Its initial members were drawn from the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Thirteen strings also organizes Junior Thirteen Strings, a group of Ottawa-area string players aged 12 to 17 who perform with Thirteen Strings in a concert during their season. |

| The Lockmasters with Slo' Tom
8:00 PM on Saturday Apr. 4th Kaffé 1870, 715 Riverside Drive, Wakefield QC Price: $10 at the door The LOCKMASTERS are a traditional three piece combo that play original songs; many of which are inspired by the sights, sounds and history of the Ottawa Valley. Featuring upright bass, violin and acoustic guitar, their sound falls somewhere between traditional country and bluegrass. Beautiful harmonies and violin playing by Natalie Cross fills out the driving rhythm and sing-a-long vocals of Chops (bass fiddle) and Slo’ Tom (acoustic guitar). Their first single “THE OLD CANAL” celebrates the 200th year anniversary of the Rideau canal and the hard working labourers who made it a reality. The band was originally conceived when Chops and Slo’ Tom met by chance on the final closing night of the Lockmaster Tavern (the infamous watering hole on the corner of Bank and Somerset). A rowdy dispute erupted over who wrote the song “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo” but was quickly forgotten when the proprietor insisted they leave the premises and never return. Having nothing better to do, the two sat on the steps of the Duke of Somerset and “pan handled” for change until finally giving up. They ran into each other the next day at Boko Bakery, decided to form a band, then waited 20 years for Natalie to move to Ottawa. Just like that… THE LOCKMASTERS were born, and the rest is history! https://thelockmasters.bandcamp.com/track/old-canal |

Good morning, not sure if you will see this (if you go back to previous weeks comments) but given that the Artemis II mission will be coming to an end & the Orion spacecraft will return to earth on Friday, perhaps you could play "J'ai demandé a la Lune" by Indochine from their 2002 album Paradize. Thanks!
