Tributes and Hearts Colliding and just plain ole great music!

Today we start with a brief Tribute to the late Ronnie Bowman. long considered one of Bluegrass Music’s greatest singer/songwriters. You might remember him from the bands Lost and Found or The Lonesome River Band , or his solo career or in recent years, the Band of Ruhks. Before all that he was part of a family band since early childhood. His awards and credits are listed as long as your arm… Ronnie Bowman died as a result of a motorcycle accident this past week, and there are many people in the bluegrass and country music mourning his death. I fill the middle of the show with wonderful Canadian music from wonderful Canadian musicians, I'll tell you what's coming up in Ottawa over the next while, and tease you a bit near the end with a great Cowboy Poetry clip... more to come another time. Thanks for tuning in. Enjoy!

Tomorrow - Hearts Collide - a benefit and celebration of Greg Kelly, dearly loved local musician and huge promoter of others’ live music - The concert is at the Unitarian Church on Cleary Ave at 2:30pm. It’s a pay what you can show.
Money goes toward helping to cover unanticipated costs as Greg faces this illness with courage and the kind heart and humour he has long been known for.
Greg has been presenting his series “Tunes After Noon” for many years at Moose McGuire’s on McCarthy Rd. He always presents a featured act, every Saturday starting at 1pm. Today that act is CR 5 Bluegrass.

April 1 Bluegrass Wednesdays features Bluegrass Junction with a special nod to fiddler Peter Dawson, who recently turned 90. WE’re going to belatedly wish Peter a H Bd and it would be great if you’re there.
