| Part One of the Excello Records Story: The label was founded in Nashville in August of 1952 and grew out of the failure of Nashboro Records hillbilly series. The first Excello release featured a traditional gospel number "Step By Step" by the Boyer Brothers, two high school pianists from Winter Park, Florida. Part One focuses on releases from 1952 to 1955. The label did not make much of a national impact but did succeed in securing steady sales and consistency of product in the niche blues and R&B southern markets. |
