I spent the afternoon in Montreal a couple of weekends ago and was reminded what fantastic diverse place it is, a fact that is reflected in what fills the bins in its used record stores. Like a starving drifter I ate my fill in a couple of shops and came away with some very cool selections. As it happens often when I hit Montreal I came away with a lot of soul and funk, and so that became the primary driving force behind this set. The best records in the genre are the ones that had that uptempo stepper as well as the slow burner and the instrumental hook. So consider this set an extended version of my favourite funky soul LP. Either sit back and relax or if the beat hits the feet don't hesitate to shake a leg. Happy Friday all, and most of all Happy summer.
