Happy Friday to all the “Drive” family out there and welcome to this week’s show! There are quite a few producers I follow fairly reliably but that aren’t necessarily featured as often as I’d like on the show. Today will be a spotlight on two of my favourites which will feature their latest releases, as they’ve both released a couple of brand new albums that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying. Coincidentally they are very good friends and one of the albums in question is a fantastic collaboration between the two. The two gentlemen in question are Montreal’s very own Juno nominee and globally renowned Frédéric Blais aka “Fred Everything” and, equally renowned, Martin Iveson aka Atjazz both of their numerous compositions have been accumulating in my collection since the 1990s and I truly admire both their art. Between the two they have close to 400 releases, probably more, which include 10 albums from Atjazz and 8 from Fred Everything, respectively, with a plethora of remixes, compilations and guest appearances featured on some of the most well known labels and alongside some of the most well known and influential artists on the deeper side of electronic dance music. They’ve both also been very prolific with their own labels, namely Atjazz Record Company and Lazy Days Recordings and I highly recommend everyone to visit their Bandcamp pages for a deeper dive. I’ll be providing links to both of these gentlemen’s Discogs pages and web sites and such in order to focus on the most important aspect of this show which is the music and to keep with the “Friday Drive” motto of “more music less talk”. For today’s show I’ll be predominantly sampling from Atjazz’s, killer and star studded, latest album “Starbase 17” and the equally stellar Atjazz & Fred Everything’s collaborative effort “8 Days”. This will be a dive into some sultry modern electronic Funk & Soul, Broken Beats and Deep House grooves. First hour will be taken from the “Starbase 17” album and in hour two I’ll be sampling from both albums as the tempo inclines. Hope you all enjoy this week’s offering and thank you for taking the time to tune in whenever and wherever you are. Keep it locked!
