Joanne Hurley
HOST OF: Friday Nite Truck Stop
YEAR STARTED: 2025
Born in Montreal in 19-something. Fell in love with music in my early teens and formed a folk group that played in and around the Montreal area, mostly coffee houses.
Went to both Dawson College and CEGEP Champlain.
Came to Toronto in 1976 and have lived there almost continually since. Worked in the Advertising/Marketing sector for nearly 4 decades.
Music has always been a part of my life - In Montreal, radio was an eclectic mix of genres, and I grew up on a mix of Soul/R&B, Country, Rock and Roll and Pop. Folk music was my first love, then Country - classic and New Traditional, with a little Country Pop thrown into the mix. Blues is always there in the background. Now, Americana is my genre of choice.
Don't play any more, but still love to sing. Around the house. In private.
I'm always on the lookout for new artists, but I have a few who will never leave my playlist - Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Steve Earle, Blue Rodeo and many others.
Love programming music for whenever I host the Friday Nite Truck Stop.
