HOST OF: Friday Drive

YEAR STARTED: 1991

My name is Trevor Walker and I've been a volunteer at CKCU since 1991.

I've been a DJ in the Ottawa area since 1988 and held down numerous residencies over the years starting at Club Zinc in the Hull district of Gatineau followed by a few years at a number of other venues that are no longer with us most notably The Well, The Mercury Loung & Atomic to name a few.

I'm currently holding down a weekly Wednesday night at The 27 Club Ottawa, a monthly (1st Saturday) at Cassette Lounge Bar and I'm part of the Timekode crew doing a regular monthly (3rd Friday) with regular  pop ups and one offs at various venues and events around Ottawa.

Over my tenure at CKCU I've been responsible for producing a number of shows over the years, starting with "New Soul Collective" which used to air 8 - 10 PM on Saturday nights and ran from 1991 - 2001.

During those years I was also responsible for two other programs, "The Undergrove" Thursdays Midnight - 2 AM, focused on Deep House music and "Flava Zone w/ The Blunted Dummies" Saturdays Midnight - 2 AM, a collective effort and one of Ottawa's very first Hip Hop radio shows.

I currently share the "Friday Drive" program with Nick Williams which airs 5 - 7 PM every Friday which was started by Lance Baptiste and yours truly in 2005.

"Friday Drive" provides a sonic safari of musical styles stretching from jazz, funk, soul to African, Caribbean, disco, house and electronic grooves within a two hour continuous mix tape of non stop music.
