HOST OF: Saturday Morning

YEAR STARTED: 1985

Since 1982, I had been part of the Old Sod Folk Music organization putting on and promoting traditional folk music concerts in Ottawa. Other notable members of Old Sod were Ian Robb (future member of Finest Kind, continuing member of Friends of Fiddler's Green and deserving of a much longer musica biography), Ivan Emke, Stewart Patch and Vince Veness who all went on to become DJ's on CKCU. With the departure of Riva Flexer as host of Music From the Glen, Vince Veness organized a few of us to take over the hosting of that program in 1985. I continued to co-host that program for forty years. In the 1990's I also joined the collective hosting the Saturday Morning program as well. When my day job pressures forced me to drop Saturday Morning, I continued on as one of the hosts of Music From the Glen with Stewart Patch until he left in 2005 to get married and Colin Henein joined me. Work pressures forced both of us to bring Ed Kingscote on board to make a threesome of hosts. I re-joined the Saturday Morning show as a host in 2022 and retired from Music From the Glen in September of 2025 on the fortieth anniversary of my hosting that show. I was a brief member of the Canadian Spaces collective but stepped aside to concentrate on Saturday Morning which has always been my favourite time slot for a general music program. Over the years I have filled in for many different shows and my passion for music and supporting the local music scene remains undiminished.
