Learn the basics of electronic music production using Ableton Live.
Overview
This introductory workshop explores the basics of electronic music production using the digital audio workstation Ableton Live. Participants will learn how to navigate the interface, select and manipulate sounds and samples, understand fundamental audio effects, and create a short electronic music piece using MIDI. Ableton Live will be available at each workstation, with shared access to MIDI controllers for hands-on experimentation.
Target Audience
Anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of electronic music production.

Instructor
Yolande Laroche is a Canadian Taiwanese singer-songwriter, producer, clarinetist and keyboardist based in Gatineau, Quebec. With over 12 years of experience as a performer, she is a familiar face in projects such as Pony Girl (Paper Bag Records), Orchidae (Birthday Cake Records), and the experimental trio KAY-fayb. n
Yolande holds a BMus from University of Ottawa and is a seasoned music educator, teaching private music lessons and electronic music production workshops. As a songwriter, producer and performer, she bridges her classical training with contemporary innovation.

Accessibility
All doors at DARC have accessibility buttons to press for automatic entry. DARC is located on the main floor (one story above ground) of the Arts Court building. DARC’s main entrance is located at 67 Nicholas Street which is fully wheelchair accessible. Alternate wheelchair-accessible entry is available through 2 Daly Ave at the Arts Court main entrance or the Ottawa Art Gallery. Elevator access is available from 9AM – 11PM.

Cancellation Policy
DARC is unable to guarantee refunds if a cancellation request is made less than five business days before a workshop. DARC reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses if necessary and will refund the registration fee to participants if a workshop is cancelled or if a participant is unable to attend a rescheduled workshop. Workshop fees are non-transferable.
To ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience a workshop must be at least half full to be offered.
