18th Latin American Film Festival March 27, 2014 until April 13, 2014 http://www.cfi-icf.ca/index.php?option=com_cfi&task=showevent&id=121&Itemid=1189 The Canadian Film Institute is once again proud to present its 18th annual showcase of the best of contemporary Latin American cinema. A collaboration with the Ambassadors and Embassies of the Latin American nations, the festival highlights the wide range of artistic and cinematic talents found south of the Rio Grande. It's three weeks of films, special guests, and Embassy receptions. All films Ottawa premieres, and presented in their original languages with English sub-titles. Join us March 29 for ¡Fiesta Latina!, a day-long food, wine, and culture exhibition. The event features musical and dance performances, latin cuisine, and Ottawa-area businesses and organizations connected to the Latin American community, all presented alongside screenings and discussions of Latin American films. Admission for the ¡Fiesta Latina! exhibition is free for the general public! Food, Wine, and Cultural Experience Saturday, March 29, 2014 • 1:00pm - 7:00pm 395 Wellington Street, Library and Archives Canada Building. You will find: gastonomic specialties from local Latin restaurants wine sampling from a variety of Latin American wineries authentic recipies prepared by Embassy chefs locally-produced coffee and chocolate sourced from Latin American beans artisinal crafts and textiles dance and martial arts performances and demonstrations throughout the day folkloric and Latin jazz musical performances Spanish-language literature and magazines a professionally curated fine art exhibition cultural and tourism information on Latin American countries a chance to meet and mingle with musicians, filmmakers, and film lovers
