Dusty Springfield (born Mary O'Brien) sang in the Springfields with her brother Tom Springfield (born Dionysius O'Brien) in the early 1960's.The Springfields disbanded in 1963 and Dusty went on to solo success while Tom worked with The Seekers as producer and arranger(co-writing "Georgy Girl" in the process). Aussie Rick Springfield had simultaneous success in music ("Jessies Girl") and acting as Dr. Noah Drake On "General Hospital". Buffalo Springfield was a poorly organised collection of fragile egos that fell apart quickly but did help jetison the careers of Neil Young and Stephen Stills. File under Springfields I know.

Chuck Berry melded jump blues and country music into guitar-centric and primal Rock and Roll. Every guitar player who has played rock music owes something to Chuck Berry's pompadour, classic double stop picking, showmanship and attitude. The man could also write a hook. Chuck Berry was born on October 18, 1926 in St. Louis Missouri and passed away March 18 of this year. He will be missed. May he rest In peace.
