Forget Me Not

Thank you for tuning into CKCU tonight. Vintage Love brings to you this evening a bucketful of classic, vintage tunes and artists who have passed on so that we do not forget the roots of the music that we enjoy today. A BIG PEOPLE episode of VL for you tonight.. one that I hope you will enjoy AND... if a long time fan of Reggae and/or Caribbean music, songs that will take you back and have you "Playing With Those Memories Again". Featuring some great voices from the past such as the legendary Sonya Spence who passed at the young age of 54. Also, one of my favorite voices in the world, generally known as the Jamaican Songbird, the Late Cynthia Schloss who passed away in 1999 due to a heart attack. Also "The Crown Prince of Reggae" Dennis Brown who performs a cover on tonight's show. Seems like yesterday but Dennis Brown passed away in July of 1999. Also on tonights show, the singer who brought to us a song we all know and love. A true ballad and classic love song called "Cottage In Negril". The voice of Tyrone Taylor who also passed away at to young an age, passing at 53 due to his battle with cancer. Tonight, I play for you another classic from Tyrone's tunes, a song called "Stranger". Another favorite of mine on the show tonight... the smoothest voice that we certainly miss, the voice of Eddie Lovette. Eddie Lovette passed away due to complications from lung cancer at the at of 55 but before leaving us, he recorded many fantastic songs and covers that we can listen to and sing along with this American born, Caribbean influenced musician. Eddie Lovette... man, this guy can sing and so effortless as he traverses the upper ranges of his voice... which limits for do not seem to exist. Tonight, Eddie Lovette sings for us a song released on his "Lovin' Feeling" album released in 1989. Try not to sing along to "Misty Blue"! Also known as Jamaica's Greatest Balladeer. This musician, singer and songwriter gave us sooo many beautiful songs that would certainly flow you back down the streams and rivers to the sea of your memories... those of you well-seasoned Caribbean music lovers, of course. Jackie Edwards passed away in 1992 from a heart attack but left us with many songs to keep his name on the tip of our collective tongue when thinking back to the stars of yesteryear. Tonight, you will hear Jackie sing... as we close out the show with this timeless song, "Til We Meet Again". All of these and more on tonight's show here on CKCU 93.1FM. "Forget Me Not", as we remember these great artists who without them... the music we enjoy and life in general would not be the same. Just imagine the void of not being able to sing songs from Dennis Brown or Cynthia Schloss or Eddie Lovette. Not to mention Bob Marley, not featured on this show but a mainstay on Vintage Love. Memories, so much more meaninful when accompanied by scents and sights and of course the sounds of great music courtesy of these amazing voices. Not all of the artists on tonight's show are gone but many of these living artists music on the show tonight are classics nonetheless. Beres Hammond, Carlene Davis and Boris Gardiner, to name a few. "Playing With Those Memories Again"... keeping great memories alive whilst creating more and keeping the names of some of our favorite singers and musicians close to our hearts. Tonight's show is dedicated to all of the Caribbean singers and musicians who paved the way for all of the music we enjoy from the Islands and around the world today. As long as Vintage Love lasts... your voices will continue to be pushed out to the world to the Big People and to a new generation of Reggae fans and lovers. Tonight, Vintage Love presents to you, "Forget Me Not", exclusively on CKCU The Mighty 93.1FM and around the world at: www.ckcufm.com I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. :-) O'shea Adagio Vintage Love International "Playing With Those Memories Again" www.ckcufm.com info(at) vintagelove.net CKCU - (613)520-2898
