DJ Competition Week 2: DJ Phil Kid vs. DJ Kwizz/ Riddims/Black History Month

DJ PhilKid Born on June 19, and was raised in Manchester, Mandeville, Jamaica in a district called Old England. Philkid who’s real name is Philroy Thomas, always had a passion and love for music but didn’t pursue it until 2006, where he first djed in the district where he was born and raised. His influences are Tony Matterhorn, Stone love, Bass Odyssey, Fire links, Black Chiney and Black Kat all Sounds from Jamaica. He moved to Ottawa Canada in June 2008, where he continued his Dj career playing at dancehall parties and clubs. He has matured a lot in the Dj world and has proven to a lot of promoters that he is very talented and professional at what he does. He is regarded as one of the best upcoming Dj which has taken over quickly in Ottawa and has already played in Montreal and Sudbury. He was first part of Black Fyah Int’l then he later joined Breakout Squad in March of 2013 and has elevated himself a lot with Breakout Squad. With Breakout Squad, Philkid has been playing a lot more in urban clubs and still play at dancehall parties. Philkid plays reggae, dancehall, hip hop, r&b and soca and has also moved on to play TOP 4os. Philkid has also won his first sound clash in 2012 at the ‘Sound fi Dead’ event held at Camilos. Philkid has open for 2 major reggae artiste that came to perform in Ottawa, those artiste are Popcaan and Gyptian. Criteria for each DJ Originality/creativity/uniqueness (30 points) Transitions between tracks (mixing) (30 points) Variety in music selection (30 points Vocal presentation (10 points) Total 100 points Scoring 1. Send your score after 4:15 pm AFTER listening to DJs. Scores sent before this time will not count. 2. Score is out of 100 points for each DJ/Sound. It is NOT a vote. It’s a score. Votes will not count. Example, “I vote for DJ x” does not count. You need to send a score based on the criteria. Example: DJx=85, DJy=75, or the reverse based on the criteria. If you like, you can also send the breakdown of your score. This gives the DJ more information but the breakdown of your score is optional. Score like DJx=100, DJy=0 will not count. Please consider the criteria carefully, then assign a score to each DJ. 3. You can also send your comments (positive, negative or both) for each DJ based on criteria. 4. You can listen to the recorded program on demand at ckcufm.com. Go to programs, schedule, click on Reggae in the Fields, select the appropriate date, listen to the contest, then send your score.
