Clutching onto classic romantic Disco for survival.

We find ourselves clutching onto classic Romantic Disco for survival. In our search for solace we present certain gifted individuals who gave it their all in translating a range of different romantic emotions through the medium: We reach for the simplicity of the adoration expressed by THE STYLISTICS' "I'M STONE IN LOVE WITH YOU". The legendary "YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE" sung by Southern Soul great CANDI STATON, THE DRAMATICS' "I CRIED ALL THE WAY HOME", "I'M CRYING" by England's MIKE HARPER, "DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY" by HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES and the wildly popular "I WILL SURVIVE" by GLORIA GAYNOR capture the agony of rejection with particularly different approaches and intensities. It couldn't be more suitable as everybody handles rejection differently. Longing and separation are felt in "I MISS YOU" by HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES and BARRY WHITE'S agonized "LET THE MUSIC PLAY". Too many out there have more than their share of those emotions. There's even Georgia Jazz great JEAN CARNE'S struggle with casual sex with the poignant "WAS THAT ALL IT WAS". Could this be more appropriate now where such an alarmingly vast segment of humanity seek out anonymous acts of intimacy and consider words like "love" to be ridiculous if not outright creepy? We will never stop marveling at the total celebrations and declarations of love like REAL THING'S "YOU TO ME ARE EVERYTHING" and CARL CARLTON'S wildly popular coverversion of "EVERLASTING LOVE". We have yet to discover too many POP, R&B, NUDISCO or HOUSE MUSIC records that offer the tangible emotional impact of these or any of the other recordings featured today.
