The Guest List
Thursday April 25th, 2024 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Nick Schofield, Sarah Pagé and Will Quiring of the group Close Talker

NOTE: The On Demand edition of the Guest List is about 15 minutes longer than the FM broadcast version of the show. We had to edit some interview segments and shorten some of the musical pieces to fit the 60 minute time limit for the FM broadcast. We open in conversation with Gatineau-Ottawa native Nick Schofield talking about his latest album Ambient Ensemble and about his upcoming performance on the Fourth Stage of the National Arts Centre (NAC) - tonight, April 25th. Nick tells us about recording the new album with an ensemble and about how much he enjoyed working on the piano at MacKay United Church in Ottawa. He also tells us that he will be performing solo tonight at the NAC. For more information about Nick and his music: https://nickschofield.com/ https://nickschofield.bandcamp.com/album/ambient-ensemble For tickets to see Nick Schofield and Sarah Pagé at the NAC use this link: https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/35615 Next up we talk to the exploratory harpist, Sarah Pagé, who heralds from Montreal and will be performing tonight at the NAC's Fourth Stage as well. We learn about how Sarah developed her interest in the harp from a young age but only took up the instrument later in life. She talks about how she loves to explore sounds when creating new compositions and recordings, takes us inside a couple of the musical pieces on the album Voda and tells us she's going to be performing solo at the NAC. For more information about Sarah and her music: https://sarahpageharp.com/ https://sarahpage.bandcamp.com/album/code-versus Finally we talk to Will Quiring, who is the lead vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter with the Saskatoon group Close Talker. The group has taken it to the next level with their new album The Sprawl, and Will tells us what went into making this new recordingl We dive into a couple of songs from the album and he talks about some of the challenges of performing this music in a trio format. Close Talker will be in Ottawa, performing at Club SAW on Monday, April 29th.
