a WHIRLEYGIGS sandwich - Saturday March 18th @ Irene's Pub.

Seminal Ottawa roots rock band THE WHIRLEYGIGS will knock off two decades of dust with their first live performance in over twenty years. The show (Saturday, March 18th @ Irene's Pub) will feature all four original members and hits from their two classic albums.

The Whirleygigs were one of the most successful Canadian bands of the 1980's. They released two acclaimed albums (1987's Gravity Rides Again and 1988's Thunderdust) that brought them to national attention and garnered them extensive college radio airplay. With successful Canadian tours and explosive live shows, the Whirleygigs left a critical mark on the underground music scene. As the 1980's came to a close, the Whirleygigs packed it up with all members continuing to be important figures in the Ottawa music community.

So why is it "A WHIRLEYGIGS SANDWICH"? It's simple:

9:30 Hundred Pacer
10:30 Whirleygigs
11:30 Slo' Tom & The Handsome Devils
