PERMANENT STAINS
The Permanent Stains formed at an Ottawa junior high school in 1987, going on to delight, terrify and confuse the capital city punk scene of the early 90s with our surreal noise jams, insane stage antics, and creative use of kitchen appliances as instruments. Today we’re a bunch of middle-aged artists of some renown, and this summer we’re putting aside our careers, families and sanity for a week-long recapturing of glory, taking our three-way collision of true-school punk, anthemic indie rock and pure art noise on a rampage through Ontario and Quebec, starting in our hometown on August 9.

The current lineup for our 30th Anniversary Tour, Stains veterans and Ottawa natives all, consists of Nick Fraser (Juno Award-winning jazz drummer extraordinaire), Malcolm Fraser (aka musical entertainer The World Provider, writer, and outsider music documentarian), Adam Traynor (award-winning theatre and film director and pioneering member of European puppet hip-hop crew The Puppetmastaz), Mark Haney (Vancouver-based composer and subject of the celebrated 2016 documentary Aim For the Roses), Steve Raegele (currently of The Dears and known for his own critically acclaimed 2010 album Last Century on Songlines Records), and Fraser Robinson (moonlighting BBC-TV exec and drummer for UK rockers Cheeseburger), as well as the Stains' founder and spiritual leader, the mysterious, motorcycle-helmeted blender player and interpretive dancer Yogurt Boy.
